Theme: Growth in discipleship requires receiving grace, which transforms our character and boldness for Christ.
Summary: In this sixth, and final, episode of the Before/After season, we encounter Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples. We see how Peter’s impulsiveness tendencies are transformed by the grace of God to preach the Good News of the Gospel to the first few thousand converts to the Way of Jesus. We discover how maturity in faith is often a journey of mistakes, which, in turn, reveal our deep need for Christ.
This episode is an invitation to a bold and courageous discipleship to Jesus, allowing each mistake along the way to be transformed by grace so that your testimony encourages others to follow Jesus.
Scripture Reading:
Luke 5:1-11
Matthew 14:28-33
Mark 8:33
John 18:10-27
John 21:15-17
Acts 2 and 4
Galatians 2:11-14
1 Peter 1:13-14
Key Questions for Reflection:
1. Recall the moment you became aware of the holiness and goodness of Jesus. What was that like? How did you respond? Was your experience similar to Peterin Luke 5:1-11?
2. What mistakes have you made along your journey with Jesus? How has God’s grace transformed those moments?
Testimony Writing:
Take some time to write out your testimony. Discipleship means passing on Jesus words and our own stories of failure and restoration. How has God restored you? Where has Jesus called you to take bold steps of faith? When have you seen the Spirit moving in your life?
Who do you need to share your story with? Pray that God would reveal the right moment to share about your life with those who need the hope of the Good News of the Gospel!
Closing thought:
Everyday is an opportunity for a Before and After moment. Lean in and trust God with the rest!
